Magnus Linklater CBE is a columnist on The Times of London, and its former Scotland Editor. He was Editor of The Scotsman from January 1988 until July 1994, and has held a number of senior journalistic appointments in British newspapers over the last 40 years, including the Evening Standard, Sunday Times, Observer, and the London Daily News, which he edited. A former chairman of the Scottish Arts Council, he is a past president, and now honorary president, of the Saltire Society, chairman of the Horsecross Arts Company in Perth, and, for the last 20 years, has chaired the Little Sparta Trust, which manages the artist Ian Hamilton Finlay’s garden in Lanarkshire. He is the author of several books on current affairs and Scottish history. He lives in Perthshire.

Isadora Love has travelled the world, lived in a few different places, and visited most of the surf locations featured in these books. (She might have kissed a surfer or two as well, but that’s another story). When she’s not writing, she likes to paint, travel, watch live music and hang out with her family and friends.

Isadora also writes fantasy romance under the name Helen Glynn Jones.

Maya lives by the sea with her husband and two sons, a dog called Nell and a tank of exotic beetles. She spent her early career in the music industry before she trained as an actor, before becoming a digital producer for Shakespeare’s Globe, the Royal Opera House, the National Theatre and Harry Potter West End.

Maya is one of the founding authors of #Authors4Oceans, with Lauren St John, campaigning to reduce single-use plastics.

Nick Lowles MBE is the founder and Chief Executive of HOPE Not Hate, an advocacy group based in the United Kingdom which campaigns against racism and fascism and emerged from the anti-fascist magazine Searchlight. Nick’s mum arrived from Mauritius in 1961 and he grew up in Hounslow before the family moved to Shrewsbury at the age of 10. Having experienced street racism as a child, Lowles got involved with the anti-fascist movement as a student volunteer at Sheffield University. He was previously a freelance investigative journalist, working in television, including on BBC Panorama, World in Action, Channel Four Dispatches and MacIntyre Undercover. Between 1999 and 2011 Lowles was co-editor, and then editor, of Searchlight magazine. He was awarded an MBE in 2016 for his services in tackling extremism. He can be found on X as @lowles_nick
